At www.cffm.org/ – Christian Family Fellowship explains an introduction into their beliefs and emphasis on “Love”. We say it this way:

Temperance

Galatians 5:22-23, “But the fruit of the Spirit is…temperance.” Temperance means self-control, and temperance is a fruit of the Spirit. You would think that self-control would be a work of your own. There is an aspect of self-control that is a fruit of following the Spirit and produced by the work of the Holy Spirit in the Christian life. We sometimes do not like the idea of self-control because of our fleshly, human nature. The carnal man struggles with the idea of submitting his/her own will to the will of God. This is because sin is in mankind through the disobedience of Adam (Romans 5:12).

One part of the freedom of God is found in self-control. We have the ability to say no to the lusts of the flesh, the passions and the worldly desires that are contrary to the Word of God. Through the power of the Holy Spirit we can say “no” to the temptations that arise out of our body and soul. In the New Testament, this can be seen in how Romans 8 is compared to Romans 7. James 1:13-16, “Let no one say when he is tempted, ‘I am being tempted by God’; for God cannot be tempted by evil, and He Himself does not tempt anyone. But each one is tempted when he is carried away and enticed by his own lust. Then when lust has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and when sin is accomplished, it brings forth death. Do not be deceived , my beloved brethren.”
