At www.cffm.org/ – Christian Family Fellowship explains an introduction into their beliefs and emphasis on “Love”. We say it this way:
Meekness
Galatians 5:22-23, “But the fruit of the Spirit is…meekness…” To be meek is so be receptive or non-combative. This state of being where you are not inclined to fight and also willing to listen or hear from others is a fruit of the Spirit. The Holy Spirit produces within us this disposition of meekness. Even Jesus was meek. It was prophesied in the Old Testament that the Messiah’s triumphant entry into Jerusalem as a king would be an act and demonstration of meekness. Zechariah 9:9, “Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout in triumph, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your king is coming to you; He is just and endowed with salvation, humble, and mounted on a donkey, even on a colt, the foal of a donkey.”
This Messiah Jesus entered Jerusalem in just this way, and His entry into the city was non-combative, even while on the way to be crucified (Matthew 21:5). Jesus Christ was meek (Matthew 11:29). Those who are meek like Him will inherit the earth at a future time (Matthew 5:5). This meekness is produced by the work of the Holy Spirit in the life of every Christian who is filled and walking according to the Spirit and not the flesh. The flesh does not produce the fruit of the Spirit but produces very different works (Galatians 5:19-21).
