At www.cffm.org/ – Christian Family Fellowship explains an introduction into their beliefs and emphasis on “Fellowship”. We say it this way:
Fellowship
Another word for “fellowship” is community. We know that God does not want anyone to live in isolation, especially not His children. We can see this plainly from the creation as God originally designed life. Adam did not find a companion among the animals (2:20). This basic human companionship was for “help”. We all need help at times, this is part of the foundation of why fellowship and community are so important. We need people to call and for others who are strong to stand with us.
Philippians 1:27-28, “Only conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or remain absent, I will hear of you that you are standing firm in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel; in no way alarmed by your opponents—which is a sign of destruction for them, but of salvation for you, and that too, from God.”
We strive together, firm in one spirit, and by doing so we are in no way alarmed by our opponents.
Romans 15:1-2, “Now we who are strong ought to bear the weaknesses of those without strength and not just please ourselves. Each of us is to please his neighbor for his good, to his edification.” For those of us in community who are strong, it is up to us not to focus on pleasing ourselves. In fact, God commands us that we are to take care of our neighbors and focus on their good, their edification. This is why being in fellowship and community is vital for our own well-being in the faith. By doing so, we are around others who are strong, those who are looking out for our good, and we are in nothing alarmed or terrified by our opponents.
